ANCIENT FOREST

THE ANCIENT FOREST IS LOCATED ON A CLIFF EAST OF COSMO CANYON. YOU CAN ONLY REACH THE FOREST BY EITHER A GREEN, BLACK, OR GOLD CHOCOBO, OR BY DEFEATING ULTIMATE WEAPON. THIS FOREST HAS GREAT ITEMS FOR THE TAKING, BUT CAN BE TRICKY TO GET THROUGH. THE FOREST IS BASICALLY A PUZZLE, IN WHICH YOU HAVE TO FIGURE OUT IN ORDER TO ADVANCE. THE "PIECES" ARE THE ANIMALS AND WILDLIFE IN THE FOREST. THESE ITEMS ARE LISTED BELOW. YOU NEED TO USE EACH OF THEM, IN ORDER TO GET TO THE NEXT AREA.

INSECTS

ISECTS ARE THE TINY LITTLE BLACK OBJECTS BOUNCING UP AND DOWWN. (SORRY NO IMAGE YET) THESE FLYS CAN BE PLACED INTO FLYTRAPS, TEMPORARILY CREATING A BRIDGE FOR CLOUD TO CROSS. THEY CAN ALSO BE PLACED IN FRONT OF TREE HOLLOWS, TO LURE OUT A FROG.

FROGS

FROGS ARE THE LITTLE GREEN....FROGS JUMPING AROUND THE AREAS. IF THERE IS A TREE HOLLOW, YOU CAN PLACE A FLY IN FRONT OF IT , TO LURE ONE OUT. FROGS ARE USED IN PITCHER PLANTS, TO LAUNCH YOU TO OTHER AREAS, OR TO HIGHER LEDGES.

TREE HOLLOW

TREE HOLLOWS ARE HIDING PLACES FOR FROGS. TO GET ONE OUT, YOU NEED TO PLACE A INSECT IN FRONT OF THE HOLOLOW, AND A FROG WILL JUMP OUT TO GET IT. SORRY ONLY ONE FROG PER HOLLOW, UNTIL YOU LEAVE THE AREA.

PITCHER PLANT

PITCHER FLOWERS ARE USED AS STEPPING STONES WHEN INSECTS ARE PLACED INSIDE THEM. AFTER A SHORT TIME, THE INSECT WILL GET SWALLOWED.
ALSO YOU CAN PLACE FROGS INSIDE THE PLANTS. THE PLANT WILL NOT, HOWEVER, SWALLOW THE FROG. INSTEAD IT WILL SPIT IT OUT AFTER A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF TIME. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, YOU WILL BE LAUNCHED IN THE DIRECTION YOU ARE FACING

MUTANT FLYTRAPS

THESE ARE NASTY FLOWERS. IF YOU GET TOO CLOSE TO THEM, THEY WILL SNAP SHUT, INJURING YOUR PARTY. YOU CAN EITHER FIND YOUR WAY AROUND THEM, OR YOU MAY NEED A BEEHIVE TO GET BY THESE MONSTER FLOWERS.

BEEHIVES

BEEHIVES ARE LITTLE BLUE OBJECTS FOUND ON THESE PLATE TYPE THINGS. PLACING THE BEEHIVE IN THE MUTANT FLOWER, WILL MAKE THE FLY TRAP SHUT, UNTIL YOU LEAVE THE AREA

SPRINGY STAMEN

SPRINGY STAMEN ARE USED TO GAIN ACCESS TO NEW AREAS, OR TO GET YOU TO HIGHER LEVELS. JUST GET UNDER ONE, AND PRESS THE ENTER BUTTON TO GRAB IT.

BELOW ARE THE AREAS IN DETAIL, AND A DETAILED WALKTHROUGH OF EACH AREA. BEFORE ENTERING THE ANCIENT FOREST, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ENOUGH STUFF TO KEEP YOU ALIVE WITH MAGIC, AS THERE IS NO RESTING. ALSO BE SURE TO SAVE. IF YOU ARE IN THE FOREST, AND YOU FIND YOU ARE GETTING A LITTLE LOW IN SUPPLIES OR HEALTH, YOU CAN RESTART THE FOREST, AND LEAVE AT ANY TIME BY PRESSING THE SQUARE BUTTON.




AREA 1

GATHER THE THREE INSECTS NEAR THE BEGINNING OF THE AREA, AND PLACE THEM BY THE PITCHER FLOWERS. WHEN YOU GET THEM CLOSE, BEGIN PLACING THEM INTO THE FLOWERS. THIS WILL GET YOU OVER THE RAVINE.
TO GET THE ITEM IN THE CENTER OF THE FLY TRAP, WALK SLOWLY HITTING THE ENTER BUTTON, UNTIL YOU RECEIVE THE ITEM. BE CAREFUL, IF YOU WALK ON IT TOO MUCH, IT WILL SNAP SHUT, AND GET YOU.
BE SURE TO GO AROUND THE TREE FOR THE SPRING GUN CLIP, BEFORE YOU HEAD INTO THE NEXT AREA.

AREA 2

WHEN YOU ENTER AREA 2,PICK UP THE FLY IN THE BEGINNING, AND USE THE SPRINGY STAMEN TO REAH THE LEDGE BY THE HOLLOW. GO TO THE RIGHT EDGE OF THE CLIFF, AND PLACE THE FLY IN THE PITCHER PLANT. IF IT ACCIDENTLY GETS EATEN BY THE FROG IN THE HOLLOW, JUST USE THE FROG IN THE PITCHER PLANT. THIS WILL GET YOU ACCROSS THE FLY TRAP. WHEN YOU GET TO THE OTHER SIDE, GET THE FROG, AND RUN UP THE GRASSY SLOPE. PLACE THE FROG IN THE LEFT PITCHER PLANT, AND HOP ON. MAKE SURE TO BE FACING LEFT WHEN YOU GET LAUCHED. THIS SHOULD PLACE YOU NEXT TO THE BEEHIVE. GET THE BEEHIVE, AND JUMP OFF. PLACE THE BEEHIVE IN THE FLY TRAP, CAUSING IT TO SHUT ITS TRAP. YOU CAN THEN GET THE SLASH-ALL MATERIA. AFTER YOU GET THE MATERIA, GRAB THE FROG AGAIN, AND TAKE IT TO THE PITCHER PLANTS. THIS TIME AROUND, PLACE IT IN THE RIGHT PLANT. MAKE SURE YOU ARE FACING RIGHT, AND THE FROG WILL LAUNCH YOU INTO THE NEXT AREA.

AREA 3

IN THE THIRD AREA, FIND THE TWO ISECTS AND PLACE THEM IN THE PITCHER PLANTS. THIS GIVES YOU ACCESS TO THE SPRINGY STAMEN. WHEN YOU GRAB THE STAMEN, YOU ARE THRUST INTO THE TREE TOPS. HERE, GO TO YOUR RIGHT, UNTIL YOU A BROKEN BRANCH. GO UP THE BRANCH, CONTINUING RIGHT, AND PICK UP THE TYPOON MATERIA. THEN RETURN TO WHERE YOU CAME INTO THE TREE TOPS, AND HEAD LEFT DOWN THE TREE TRUNK, AND BACK TO AREA 2. PICK UP THE MANERVA BAND, AND HOP OFF. RETURN TO AREA THREE, AND AGAIN USE THE INSECTS TO REACH THE STAMEN. IN THE TREE TOPS, AGAIN GO RIGHT. THIS TIME, GO DOWN THE SIDE OF THE BRANCH, RATHER THAN UP IT, AND CONTINUE INTO AREA 3.
IN THIS SECTION, YOU NEED TO GRAB THE INSECT, AND PLACE IT IN THE PITCHER PLANT, TO GET THE BEEHIVE. PUT THE BEEHIVE IN THE FLY TRAP, AND GET THE SECOND INSECT. PUT IT INTO THE LOWER PITCHER PLANT TO GET BACK TO THE LEFT. ONCE THERE, GRAB ONE OF THE INSECTS, AND PLACE IT IN FRONT OF THE HOLLOW. WHEN THE FROG COMES OUT, GRAB THE OTHER INSECT, AND PLACE IT IN THE PITCHER PLANT TO RETURN TO THE OTHER SIDE. QUICKLY GRAB THE FROG, AND RETURN TO THE RIGHT SIDE. PLACE THE FROG IN THE RIGHT MOST PITCHER PLANT, AND HOP ON. MAKE SURE YOU ARE FACING RIGHT, AND THE PLANT WILL SHOOT YOU ONTO A LEDGE WITH A CAVE. ENTER THE CAVE.

AREA 4

INSIDE THE CAVE, THERE ARE NO PUZZLES. THIS IS A STRAIGHT SHOT. GRAB THE APOCALYPSE SWORD FOR CLOUD, AND AN ELIXIR, AND EXIT THE CAVE AT THE TOP OF THE SCREEN.

CONGRADULATIONS, YOU JUST MADE IT THROUGH THE ANCIENT FOREST. IF YOU ARE IN BAD SHAPE, USE A TENT, AND HEAL UP. ABOVE ALL, SAVE YOUR GAME. YOU WOULD REALLY HATE TO HAVE TO GO THROUGH THERE AGAIN....UNLESS YOU WANTED TO.
