final fantasy psp screenshotTo celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the first Final Fantasy released, Square decided to give the first two titles another remake. This time they went far beyond expectations.
Released on the PSP hand-held system, Final Fantasy shines brighter than ever. Graphics were updated with sharp, astounding color and detail. Characters, enemies, bosses, everything looks fantastic. In the world of Final fantasy updates, this is perhaps the best yet.
Most of the game was taken straight from the GBA version released a few years earlier. The Soul of Chaos shrines return just as they were. Each of the four different dungeons require you defeat their respective boss to gain access. And in each dungeon is 4 bosses from other titles in the series.
final fantasy psp screenshotThere is a new dungeon to play through called "The Labarynth of Time. This houses a boss more formitable than any other boss in the game combined. This new dungeon will also test your skill, thinking, problem solving, tactical fighting, and just about everything else there is. And there are essentially 8 different ending bosses, thus making replaying the Labarynth a must.
The menu screen has been greatly updated,a nd made easier to find things. A neat addition is in the fact that you can make the menu screen go from solid to transparent, and anything in between. This is fantastic for those of us who might be in the menu so long, they forget what it was they were doing in the first place.
In addition to fantastic graphics, the story has had some changes made again. Though not much on the level of the engrossing stories of other titles, it has definitely been given a far better script than in previous releases. This has surely made this title the instant most popular of the rest of the releases.
final fantasy psp screenshotMusic was taken surprisingly from the Final Fantasy Origins title, rather than the GBA title. It was given a slight update for the PSP, and sounds fantastic. Not the sound quality of say Crisis Core, or Birth By Sleep, but it is certainly right under them.
Other nice additions to this release is in the form of bonus artwork from famed Final Fantasy artist Yoshitaka Amano, and the CG scenes created for the PS1 version were returned to shine on the PSP.
Hands down, this is the best representation of this masterpiece title. There is truly no better version to have, and is just simply fun to play. Some might scoff it for being old school, and generic. But these same people would not know what quality gaming is. Final Fantasy, whether it be NES, PS1, GBA, or PSP is a title that still defines quality gaming. Get this title, and see for yourself how fantastic it truly has become.
