Mission Mode

Mission Mode can be played alone or with up to 4 players via the Nintendo DS Wireless. Mission Mode allows players to replay Missions that have been completed through Story Mode to obtain Mission Crowns. These are exchanged in the Moogle Shop for Moogle Shop Freebies. In addition to collecting , players in Multi-Player compete for the points earned by defeating enemies. When the mission is complete, the player with the most points is awarded the for that round.
Below are a few of the things you will need to know about Mission Modes, and what they are. Also the list of unlockable characters you can play with, and how to get them.

Mission 00

In addition to the Story Mode missions, Mission Mode adds a new tutorial mission called Mission 00. This additional mission allows players to get the hang of the Missions for the first time, without any gain or loss of anything outside of used items. But it also allows players who have not played the game in a while (like myself) to brush up on the gist of playing Mission Mode as well. Certainly a great addition that makes replay a lot easier and fun.

Gathering Gates

In Mission Mode players will sometimes encounter Gathering Gates, which resemble white circles restricting certain areas of the map. These are not completely inaccessable blockades. You just need to have all players pass through them at the same time. If they do not, you cannot move into the blocked area. (These are not found in Solo Mode)

Mission Countdown

Once you complete a mission, you will notice a timer at the top of the screen. This is the Mission Countdown. You must reach the Dark Corridor before the timer runs out. If you do, you will be rewarded with extra Mission Points. In Multi-Player mode the first player to reach the Dark Corridor is awarded the points. If you do not make it back before the timer runs out, you lose all of the extra points.

Unlockable Secret Characters

When you first go into Mission Mode, only the original Organization XIII members are available to use. There are six hidden characters you can unlock through Story Mode to play. A couple of the characters recquire a lot of work to obtain, but most are done by just going through the storyline. Here are the characters, and how to get them:

358/2 days character
Xion
Pass Day 117 in Story Mode

358/2 days character
Riku
Pass Day 172 in Story Mode

358/2 days character

Pass Day 225 in Story Mode

358/2 days character
Goofy
Pass Day 296 in Story Mode

358/2 days character
King Mickey

Afterwards, purchase The King’s Return from the Moogle Shop

358/2 days character
Sora
Beat the game with every Mission Gauge at 100%
Afterwards, purchase Sora’s Awakening from the Moogle Shop

Dual-Wielding Roxas

358/2 days character
Dual-Wielding Roxas
By equipping Roxas with the Zero Gear and placing 4 Ability Unit Panels inside it, you can play as Dual-Wielding Roxas while in Mission Mode. Playing as Dual-Wielding Roxas is only possible in Mission Mode. Doing the same thing to the Zero Gear in Story Mode will give you the Kingdom Key+.
