Phil Cup   Pegasus Cup   Hercules Cup   Hades Cup   Gold Match   Platinum match

Welcome to the Olympic Coliseum. Here you battle powerful foes, and the most difficult enemy in the entire game! But before you can enter into the tournaments, you will have to complete certain portions of the game. (Refer to the separate tournaments for details)
Once you complete a cup and win, you will be able to compete in a time trial and a run through with just Sora for additional prizes. Some of the best items and weapons are found inside the Coliseum, so there is no reason why you should not compete.
It should be noted that any items you do use in the tournaments are lost for good. Be sure you are in enough good shape to not ahve to resort to using your entire stock of Elixirs throughout the first few matches. Save those for the Platinum match. Also if you feel it is not going your way, simply press pause. This will bring up an option of continuing the game, or quitting. You will lose items you used, but this is a good way to prevent yourself from getting KO'ed. Also if you die in the arena, you will not have to begint he game again. You simply return to the lobby with the HP/MP you went in with. Now that you got all of that, time to head into the tournaments!

Leon, Yuffie Leon, Yuffie
kingdom hearts coliseum leon & yuffieUse your target lock, and go after Yuffie first. She will leap around while attackign you, so use Dodge Roll to stay ahead of her. Yuffie can heal herself and Leon, but this can be prevented. When she stops moving to perform the heal, strike her and she will stop. Focus on her regular attacks, since Aero will deflect much of the damage caused by the thrown items. These items can also be thrown back at her, and stun her. This will open more time for easy attacks. Once Yuffie is out, focus on Leon.
In the beginning he will fight just like the battle in Traverse Town. But once you get him down enough, the tactics will change. Leon will begin charging his Gunblade and swings it in a wide arc. When he rears back for the swing, Dodge Roll out of the way to avoid it. Leap over his haed, and execute a combo or two in his back. If you need some health, run away and use what you have. For defeating this powerful duo, you will gain Sora's Strike Raid ability.

Cloud Cloud
kingdom hearts coliseum cloudThis is pretty much the same fight as you had with Cloud in the beginning, but Cloud now has the ability to glide as well. Cloud will always cry out before each attack, so use this to avoid being hit. When Cloud swings the Buster Sword, or shoots across the arena, jump out of the way or Dodge Roll out of the way. Then try to get a hit in on him while he is standing still. Cloud is also quite capable of defending from your attacks, so the element of surprise is the better bet to go with. Whe he leaps into the air, get away from the spot you are in. The hit he does when he lands can do some hefty damage if it connects. Fire will knock him back still, but hopefully you will have a higher grade of it by now. Hit him with the spell, and then move in for a strike or two while he is knocked back. Keep the pressure on, and he will fall quickly. For defeating Cloud, you will get the Chocobo Keychain. You will also get 500 Exp. for defeating him.

Hercules Hercules
kingdom hearts coliseum herculesHercules is perhaps the easiest of the tournament boss battles. When Herc is glowing with his god-like yellow, you cannot damage him. You can try, but you will just get knocked back. Eventually he will stop to admire his muscular strength. This is when you grab one of those barrels that you could not figure out why they were there, and toss one at him. The impact of the barrel removes his glow, thus making him vulnerable to attacks. You should actually try to get really close to throw the barrel, so you can easily get a combo or two while he is a bit stunned.
Once Herc gets back on his feet, watch out. His charge attack is devastating if it hits, so glide around the arena, until he stops. When her goes into his spin attack, stay close, dodging his moves. You want to stay close because when he finishes, he becomes disoriented. This makes him an easy target for combos.
You can make him stay human, by countering his stampede over and over, but this is extremely risky. It is actually easier to just let him go through the attacks, then begin admiring himself again. You can then repeat this strategy, until he is down for good. For beating this son of Zues, you will get the Herc's Shield for Goofy. If you have won the previous tournaments as well as the Hercules Cup, you will also get teh Olympic Keychain. Not bad for a fairly easy fight.

Once you complete the Hercules Cup, you will receive the Yellow Trinity. Use the one in the lobby to find the Key Hole for the coliseum and seal it.

When she stops moving to perform the heal, strike her and she will stop. Focus on her regular attacks, since Aero will deflect much of the damage caused by the thrown items. Cerberus Cerberus
kingdom hearts coliseum cerberusIn this fight, you will want to lock onto one of the outside heads, and go to town on it. This will also steer you clear of his bite and fireball attacks. When Cerberus squats down and begins spewing darkness on the ground, stop your attacks and begin running away from it. It will try to track Sora's moves, but as long as you keep moving, it will not easily get you. Also if the beast rears up on his hind legs, take to the air before he hits the ground. If you are grounded when he connects, you will sustain major damage. If you are gliding though, there will be no damage caused. When he is stomping around with his heads out of range, the only thing you can do is launch a few Thundara spells at him. He is not very difficult to handle, and you should get through this quickly. For beating Hades faithful hound, you will get a Thunder Spell upgrade.

Cloud, Leon Cloud, Leon
kingdom hearts coliseum cloud & leonThis time around the duo of fighters is Cloud and Leon. Both fight the same as before, but with the two of them together, it can get very hard, very fast. It is best to focus on Cloud first, since his attack range is far wider than that of Leon.
Lure Cloud away from his comrade, and begin your attacks. Be sure to watch out for his attacks. He again cries out before each attack, so use that to your advantage. when he jumps in the air, get away from your current position, before he lands. (Making sure not to let Leon get a hit in at the same time) Once he is out of the fight, it is time to get Leon.
In the beginning he will fight just like the battle in Pegasis Cup. And once you get him down enough, the tactics will change. Leon will begin charging his Gunblade and swings it in a wide arc. When he rears back for the swing, Dodge Roll out of the way to avoid it. Leap over his haed, and execute a combo or two in his back. Keep up the pressure, and Leon will give out as well. Hades Hades
kingdom hearts coliseum hadesHades is a powerful opponent. He can litteraly reduce you to nothing in a couple of hits. You need to keep yourself healthy more so than Donald and Goofy.
The only time Hades is vulnerable to attack is when he is attacking himself. So basically you need to bait him into attacking you. Dodge the attack and hit his unprotected side with a combo or two. If he turns on you and fires, Blizzard spells will end the fireballs. Hades does have a full arena flame attack. You will see this begin when he shifts his weight in one direction. Begin running the other way when his attack begins. Dodge rolling will get you out of the way faster. You could glide, but you will get hit for sure when you land. Once his move is complete you can do some damage, even if he is red. So use that little span of time to your advantage. If you find it really difficult to defeat Hades, you should go level up a few more levels, and try again. For putting Hades fire out, you get a Gravity magic upgrade, and you receive Ansem's Report 8

Rock Titan Rock Titan
kingdom hearts coliseum rock titanThere is a neat trick I did with this fight, that works 90% of the time. in the beginning of the fight, you will need to attack his feet. Be careful as not to get hit by them. Rocky here can cause some serious damage. When he takes enough hits, he will flop over on his back. Use your Glide/Superglide and get to his heads. Stand between his heads and begin your assault until he begins to get up. Now here is where my trick goes into play: As he is getting up, stop attacking, and move to remain between his heads. Once he is completely up, continue your assault, but slowly. This way a combo does not force you off the little area between his heads. You will not have to worry about damage, and you can easily defeat this guy. For completing the hades Cup, you receive the Trinity Limit. This is simply the best ability in the entire game.

*NOTE* Completing the Hades Cup is one of the objectives needed to be done in order to get the secret ending after the final battle.

Gold Match

Opens when you win the Hades Cup tournament

kingdom hearts coliseum ice titanIce Titan can be rough, if you do not know what you are doing. But if you are high enough in levels, and prepare, he should not be any trouble.
The first thing to know is you are alone in this fight. The entire arena is also open for you to fight in, including the stairs. That is exactly where you want to be. Get up to the top of the stairs on either side, and remain there. Ice Titan will begin throwing shards at you. You need to hit them back at him. When you hit him enough times, he will kneel over like the Rock Titan. Quickly get to his head, and do a few combo's, until he gets back up. After teh first time with this, he will add more attacks into the mix. On top of the shards and the ice columns that pop up, he will begin droping ice chunks on you from above. Just keep dodging these and the pillars, while striking the shards back at him. He does have one nasty attack up his frozen arm, and this is why you need to keep at the top of the stairs. He will freeze the entire area with the exception of the top stair. If you are in the same area, you will be frozen for a few seconds. It will do major damage, as well as making you vulnerable to attacks.
After his second shot, he will attack a lot faster for the rest of the fight. Keep hitting the shards at him, while dodging his other attacks. If you need to heal, use a Cure spell, since your MP will be replenished very quickly. There is no reward for defeating Ice Titan...well except for bragging rights.

Platinum Match

Opens when you sealed Hallow Bastion

kingdom hearts coliseum sephiroth"Once known as the greatest of swordsmen, his wehereabouts have been unkown for some time. He challenged Sora to a on-on-one duel. No one knows why he has suddenly returned. Apparently, he and Cloud have crossed paths before."

This is above and beyond the most difficult fight in the game. There is a lot fo things you should do and get, before taking this ex-SOLDIER on. First, you should be at level 70+, if not even higher than this. Sephiroth is beyond difficult, even around level 100. In this fight, you will need HP and MP a plenty. The best Accessory for HP increase is Gaia Bangles. Load up on them as they will give you not only the HP boost you need, but a much needed defense boost too. The Keyblade is important too. You will want oen that boosts magical power. This will make your Cure/ra.ga spell as well as the Aero/ra/ga spell more effective. But you might also want to go with a longer Keyblade to hit him while keeping your distance. If this is the case, you definitely want the Metal Chocobo. It has the longest reach of all Keyblades. If you want to do more combos, you should go with Lionheart, or perhaps Oathbringer.
Items...this is easy. Fill all slots with Elixirs. And yes that is all. Do not worry about Potions, and Ethers. USE ELIXIRS! If you do not ahve enough to fill all your slots, get to synthesising them. You really want to have these.
And finally for your abilities, above and beyond anything else, you want Second Chance. You definitely want to be able to have this shot if Sephiroth takes you out. You will also want to equip ALL of your MP Haste and MP Rages. This will keep your MP up for healing and Aero, without resorting to Elixirs...you want those for other things. Finally you want Strike Raid. Take off all other attacking abilities such as Sonic Blade, Ars Arcanum, and Ragnarok. You need only Strike Raid, and the rest of them will interfere with getting it when you need it. Any other ability slots you may have can be filled with whatever. But try to go for attack and defense. This is the most important things in this fight. If you have time to spare, get a few Def Up and HP up synthesised. This will greatly increase your ability to withstand Sephiroth barrage of attacks. Speaking of those, here is a list of his attacks. Get to know each of them, so you can properly defend or counter them.

-Sword Slash-
Sephiroth's basic attack. He will walk around the arena, randomly slashing at Sora with his mighty Masmune.
-Teleport Sword Slash-
Sephiroth teleports close to Sora's location and attacks. He generally will appear right behind you. When he does teleport, you will lose your target lock. Get it back quickly. He also does this if you combo him.
-Flame Pillar-
Sephiroth summons a mighty pillar of fire to surround him. When he does this, stay clear and hit him with Strike Raid. Sephiroth will do this after a few Sword Slashes, and if you interupt his Sin Harvest.
-Sin Harvest-
Sephiroth teleports into a random corner of the arena and says "Sin Harvest". A rainbow glow will surround him, then appear above your head, causing your HP/MP to be reduced to 1.
-Omnislash-
Sephiroth does a frenzy of standing and leaping blows, then leaps up and does a finishing move. This attack will not stun you, so you can heal throughout the attack cycle.
-Darkness Ball-
Sephiroth summons up to eight balls of darkness that will home in on you. He will then use Sword Slash or teleport Slah while they are closing in. Damage is minor, but can stun you for some time if you are hit with a lot of them.
-Meteor-
Sephiroth will glow white, as meteors surround him. They will go around him a few times, before getting sucked into a black hole above his head. Finally a giant metwor will drop on you. Both Sephiroth and the meteors cannot be damaged, so just heal and wait out the attack.

Now it is time for the fight. When you feel you are ready, talk to Phil and enter the second to the last match with a ???. The battle with Sephiroth has three major phases to it. We will go over each phase in detail.
Phase 1: Enter Sephiroth

kingdom hearts platinum match septhiroth fight
In this first phase, Sephiroth uses his Sword Slash, Teleport Sword Slash, and Flame Pillar. Dodge the Sword Slash if ou can. If you are feeling really lucky, you can parry this atack as well. But dodging is the safer alternative. Sephiroth spends his time running around the arena and attacking at odd angles, in an attempt to disorient you. If you get hit a time or two, it is OK. You actually need to be hit to keep the MP running. Set yourself up with Aero/ra/ga, and hit him when you get a chance. If you cannot get in close enough, hit him a few times with Strike Raid. Also while he is commencing Flame Pillar, hit him as much as you can with Strike Raid. For a while, it will seem like you are doing no damage at all. But it only seems that way. I assume it is becasue there is more HP than bar, but it does take a few hits to make it begin to drop. Keep up the heat, (and your HP) and when the Yellow bar is visible, he will teleport to a corner of the arena and yell "COME ON". This will signify the transition into Phase 2.

Phase 2: Sins of the Harvester

kingdom hearts platinum match septhiroth fight
In this phase, Sephiroth quickens his attacks. He will also add Omnislash to the mix, but his favorite now seems to become Teleport Sword Slash. But the big attack in this phase is his Sin Harvest. Sephiroth teleports into a random corner of the arena and says "Sin Harvest". A rainbow glow will surround him, then appear above your head. Once this occurs, you are too late. Your HP/MP will be reduced to 1. Quickly administer a Elixir. Right after it connects. Sephiroth will teleport behind you in an attempt to finish you off. Be sure to get out of the way. If you can lock him and hit him with Strike Raid before the glow goes above you, it will interupt this attack and he will go into Flame Pillar. If his Sin Harvest attack manages to connect, use an Elixer right before it hits you. If timed correctly, you'll go through the item animation, Sin Harvest will hit, then your item will take effect. It is a bit tricky, but a real lifesaver if he gets a shot from his teleport that follows. After Sin Harvest, continue to use your strategy of defending his other attacks and hitting, until Sin Harvest is used again. Keep repeating, and you will get through this rough phase of the fight. Try real hard to prevent him from using Sin Harvest, rather than just letting it connect. You will want to save an Elixir or three for the final phase. And once you get him down to where the green bar is just visible it will be time for Phase three.

Phase 3: Calling on the Darkness

kingdom hearts platinum match septhiroth fight
In this final phase of the fight, Sephiroth becomes very angry and very aggressive. It is in this phase that he will begin including two darkness attacks. The first is his Dark Ball attack. Large balck orbs will begin to surround him, and lock in on you. As they are trying to connect with you, Sephiroth is able to be hit. Try to avoid the balls, while making some connecting strikes. The Dark Balls do not do too much damage, but if too many hit, Sora can get stunned long enough for Sephiroth to do some major damage. You will need to heal a lot durring this attack, so do not hesitate to. Staying healthy is priority, not inflicting as much damage as you can to Sephiroth.
The second new attack is his Meteor. Sephiroth will begin to glow white, and summon forth meteors to hit you. It does not happen often, but durring this point he could use Sin Harvest. Be very careful durring this attack, as the Meteors can also take you out if he uses it. After a bit of time, the meteors will get sucked into a black hole. Once this occurs a giant meteor will connect with Sora. Heal quickly, and resume your fight. There are times where he will go from Meteor right into Sin Harvest. You, if you are not too hurt, might want to hold off on healing, until you know what he is doing. If he begins Sin Harvest, quickly hit him with Strike raid. If he does not, Dodge Roll and heal. He will also administer his Omnislash, and it will be more powerful than the second phase. Keep the basic strategy of the other phases for the other attacks, and interupt Sin Harvest if it is used. Keep up your health, and eventually he will finally fall. For his demise, you will get 18,000 Exp. Congratulations, you just defeated the hardest opponent in the entire Kingdom Hearts world!

In the Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix, after you defeat Sephiroth, there will be a confrontation between him and Cloud. Below is the video with English sub-titles, showing this awesome confrontation. It also makes the scenes in Kingdom Hearts II make more sense.
