Alucard is the son of Dracula. He has spent his time trying to stop his father's evil. The human love from his mother keeps him from giving in to his dark inheritence.
After the destruction of his father in 1476 with Trevor Belmont, Alucard deemed his blood too cursed to remain, and went into a deep slumber. When the dissapearance of Richter Belmont happened, Alucard was awakened. He knew his father was about to come back. He then set out for his homeland to confront Dracula, and end his evil for good.

Richter Belmont is from the infamous line of legendary vampire slayers. In 1792, Richter set out to rescue his love Anette and rescue children kidnapped by the Drak Priest Shaft. Among them was his reletive Maria Renard. He then seeks out Dracula. He is aided by Maria, and they come out the victors.
A few years later, Richter mysteriously vanishes. It is only known by Maria that her heart is telling her he is somewhere inside the newly formed castle of Dracula. It is unknown whether he lives or not.

Maria Renard is related to the Belmont clan. She was kidnapped by the Count's priest Shaft at a younger age, and was rescued by Richter Belmont. When he dissappeared without a trace, she set out to find him. It was then the Castle Dracula materialize in front of her. She knew Richter had to be in there somewhere, and enters the hellish domain to find him.

There is little known about the Master Librarian. It is not known of his age, but one assumes if he knows the young master Alucard, then he is older than even him.
He sits in his room, inside the massive library, guarding the secrets of the castle. When Alucard seeks his aid, he is reluctant to defy the master. After offereing to pay for his services, as well as showing a great deal of kindness, the Librarian agrees to aid the young master in his quest.

Lisa Tepes is mother to Alucard, and perhaps the only woman his father Dracula ever loved. She was captured by a mob of people, and accused of witchcraft. In order to save her loved ones she allowed herself to be slain. Her final words to Alucard were "to not hate humans, for theirs is already a hard lot.", and "To tell his father that she will love him for all eternity". It was her wish that he not hate humans, and his undying love for his mother that caused Alucard to take arms against his father.

The lord of darkness himself. Dracula has been ever trying to destroy all of humanity, and bring forth his hords of evil.
His devot priest Shaft helped him to be resurected in 1792, but was vanquished by Trevor Belmont. It was then he realized that if he could remove the threat of the Belmont clan, then none could stop him. He then had Shaft brainwash Richter Belmont, until he could be born again. He did not anticipate his son taking up the fight against him.

Death is Dracula's most trusted minion. He is always guarding the gates to Dracula, and this time is no different.
When Alucard enters his home, Death is quick to intercept him. After defying Death's wish that he not interfere, Death robs Alucard of his armor and weapon. He then vanishes, and awaits Alucards arrival.

The Drak Priest Shaft is Dracula's devot priest. His one desire is to see the world drenched in the blood of all, and will do anything to resurect his master.
His first attempt was stopped by Richter Belmont in 1792. It was then that he was asked to remove the Belmont as a threat, so he could once more resurect Dracula.
Once this was accomplished, he set out to begin the resurection unchallenged. But he, like Dracula did not anticipate Alucard setting out to stop them.
