In Final Fantasy II, you have four main characters in the game. (Though one of them does not show until much later.)  Other characters will also join the party temporarily. You will have three of the main four characters throughout the entire game.

Main Characters

Firion
When he was a child, Firion was orphaned. He was soon adopted by Maria and Leon's parents. He grew into adulthood with the two, and now considers them like brother and sister.

Maria
Maria is Leon's younger sister. When Leon is separated from the party, she becomes determined to find him. No matter what the cost

Gus
Gus has been friends with Firion, leon, and Maria since they were children. He is not a very bright man, and tends to lean to brawn over brains. Still, he is a good-hearted soul, with great skill under his slow appearance.

Leon
Although Leon begins with the party, as they escape the kingdom of Flynn, he is seperated from them. His whereabouts are a mystery to his friends, and it is unknown where his path has lead him.

Secondary Characters

Mindu
Mindu is the adviser to Princess Hilda. He aids her in keeping the rebellion alive. He has sworn to do whatever it takes to stop the Emperors evil plot.

Josef
Josef was raised, and lives in the town of Salamand. This has given him expert knowledge of the area, and its dangers. He willingly joins the mission for the sake of his daughter, as well as the rest of the world.

Gordon
Gordon, the Prince of Kas'ion, was aiding the rebellion, when the Empire attakced hi kingdom. He fled for his life, while his brother stood ground against them. He now seeks the courage that he lacked before, to stand against the Empire.

Leila
Leila is a free spirit, and a pirate. She is first encountered, while trying to relieve the party of their possessions. Once she sees their strength and determination, she quickly rally's to their side.

Gareth
The last of the noble race of Dragoons, Gareth vanished while searching for the fabled Ultima scroll. He readily joins your party, so he might be able to leave an unforgettable mark as the last dragoon.
