The coliseum in Final fantasy VI was definitely a unique creation in the series. Basically, you wager a item, fight a enemy single handedly, and get another item if you win the fight. You do not have all 4 characters either. You get to choose one of your characters, and they fight the enemy without commands. Kind of like if they were berserked. The only difference is the character can use magic. If you lose the fight, you will lose the item you bet with. There are also certain items that will bring a battle with Chupon. You cannot win these fights, that is simply a rumor. Also, if you waited for Shadow on the Floating Continent, and have found him in the Cave of the Veldt, he will show here, if you bet the Striker. If you have either lost or sold the Striker, you are S.O.L. on getting Shadow. And guess who the receptionist is!
